Urban environments often fail to accommodate the diverse needs of their residents, as traditional planning has historically prioritized certain groups, predominantly male. This results in inequitable access to resources and services, particularly impacting women and marginalized individuals. The challenge is to reimagine urban spaces to be inclusive, accessible, and equitable for all social roles. To address this, feminist urban planning concepts such as the 15-minute city, caring cities, and fairly shared city aim to create environments supportive of care work, reduce reliance on cars, and ensure essential services are accessible. Tools like LDTs can identify gender gaps, analyze data, and simulate inclusive urban designs and policies. This MLU covers concepts in gender-equitable urban planning, including the application of gender impact assessments. Through case studies, interactive discussions, and practical exercises, learners explore strategies to recognize and mitigate inequalities in urban environments, advancing towards a more inclusive society through thoughtful city planning.
